ABSTRACT

Despite the widespread use of emergency remote learning (ERL) during the COVID-19 pandemic in higher education, little is known about the determinants of Chinese normal student satisfaction with ERL. This study uses a questionnaire survey method to examine how Chinese normal students' satisfaction with ERL during the COVID-19 pandemic. The results show that Chinese normal students prefer face-to-face teaching to online teaching to some extent. According to the findings, it is important to emphasize students' pre-class preparation, adjust course assessment methods, change teachers' teaching strategies, create a positive teaching environment, boost students' learning confidence, and help them deal with their anxiety during ERL to improve the online course experience for Chinese students at normal universities. © 2023 ACM.

ABSTRACT

One of the most significant and well-publicized prevention practises for Covid 19 is hand cleanliness. Face masks and social withdrawal are useless without good hand hygiene. The healthcare professionals can only intervene and raise awareness to enhance the public's hand hygiene practises after they are aware of the public's perceptions of and barriers to hand hygiene. A private dental facility had 150 outpatients participate in this cross-sectional questionnaire survey. Ten questions addressing various facets of hand hygiene and perceived obstacles made up the survey. The information from Google Forms was then imported into SPSS Version 15 using Excel. Data were presented as frequencies and percentages after the chi square test, and a p value of 0.05 or less was regarded as statistically significant.. In our study, 92.62 percent of outpatients at a private facility said that they continue to take measures against COVID19. 83.89% of our patients agreed that good hand hygiene habits are crucial for preventing COVID19. Whereas 38.26% of outpatients claimed to only wash their hands for 30 seconds, 33.56% of outpatients claimed to wash their hands for a full minute. In contrast to the 48.32 percent who said hand sanitizer is best and important for hand hygiene, 51.68 percent of outpatients said soap and water is best and essential for hand hygiene. According to the study's findings, the participants had a reasonable understanding of hand hygiene and its significance. Yet, there is a need for greater awareness of the finishing details on touch surfaces. Thus, it is advised that media-based propaganda and awareness campaigns have a positive impact and should be kept up, with a stronger focus on the finer points. © 2023 IEEE.

ABSTRACT

Owing to the COVID-19 pandemic, many companies have introduced working from home to avoid the risk of infection. In this study, we conducted questionnaire surveys and analysed the building energy management system (BEMS) in an office building where the number of employees working from home increased after the onset of the pandemic. The influence of working from home on the indoor environment satisfaction and the variability in energy consumption at home and office was determined. The indoor environment satisfaction was significantly higher when working from home than when working at the office. In 2020, the total energy consumption at home and office decreased by 30% in April and increased by 22% in August compared to the previous year. To work from home while saving energy regardless of the season, it is necessary to reduce office energy consumption by decreasing the number of workers present at the office. © 2022 17th International Conference on Indoor Air Quality and Climate, INDOOR AIR 2022. ABSTRACT

Exclamation mark or kantanfu in Japanese, is one of written language elements used to convey expressions. Based on exclamation mark usage, the meaning and nuance of a sentence could differ. Amidst the COVID19 pandemic that limits one's interaction to another, the frequency of digital communication has significantly increased. Digital communication through chats has become an activity that cannot be separated from everyday life. Therefore, it is important to understand exclamation marks correctly. The aim of this study is to avoid misunderstandings that could happen through chats in Japanese. This study will compare the use and interpretation of exclamation marks in Japanese chat between Indonesians and Japanese. Japanese chat messages containing exclamation marks were analyzed using Hymes' SPEAKING theory. This study uses Creswell's convergent mixed methods, with quantitative data of Indonesians' questionnaire survey results, and qualitative data of interviews with Japanese people. Study results show that there are differences in the use and function of exclamation marks between Indonesians and Japanese. © 2022 IEEE.

ABSTRACT

Educational institutions and students find it a challenging task to complete the syllabus prescribed in the given period of academic year in compliance with the academic calendar, as they remain closed for an indefinite period due to the outbreak of Covid. Efforts are being made by them to chalk out ways n means to achieve the goal of completing the portions of syllabus well in time in spite of the hostile situation. Assurance of quality of learning is also a matter of prime importance for which the content has to be designed well and delivered in a professional manner. Most of the students face constraints in learning through online platform and as such it deserves high attention as to how the content is organized and presented before them so as to address such constraints and to make the learning effective. As the pandemic and subsequent restrictions led to the sudden change from conventional class room to online mode, teachers and students have faced much challenges. Most of the institutions couldn't rise to the occasion so as to formulate quality contents to deliver through online platform. Online learning can be made easy, efficient and productive if the experiences of students and learning are incorporated in the study. The findings of this study indicated that majority of the students evinced a positive attitude towards online classes in the wake of corona. The online learning was found to be advantageous as it provided flexibility and convenience for the learners. Students preferred well-structured content with recorded videos uploaded in university web-sites. They also indicated the need for interactive sessions with quizzes and assignments at the end of each class to optimize the learning experience. © 2022 IEEE.

ABSTRACT

This study examined the impact of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) on Japanese expatriates living in China. The survey period was from March 30 to July 31, 2021;responses were received via an online survey. An online survey gathered responses from 236 participants about the impact of COVID-19 on their work and life. While 80% of the participants re-sponded that COVID-19 had impacted their work and life, 60% said that it had a physical or mental impact. Kruskal–Wallis test and Mann–Whitney U test were conducted to compare the effects of COVID-19 on job performance, including personal attributes. The impact of COVID-19 was associated with gender (p =.007), age (p =.010), occupation (p =.005), job title (p =.009), and living arrangements with or without a partner (p =.005). The impact was also correlated with age (p =.030), job position (p =.014), number of times the respondent had lived in Japan (p =.003), and number of years in Japan (p =.015). The most significant effect on mental and physical health was correlated with job position (p =.016). Thus, Japanese expatriates living in China were substantially affected by the COVID-19 epidemic;although, 60% of them said their region was easy to live in. Further, despite the Chinese government's strict isolation orders, they found the thorough testing and use of the coronavirus tracking app reassuring. This suggests the importance of providing not only mental care for expatriates during the COVID-19 epidemic but also prompt decision-making based on an accurate understanding of the local situation. © Fuji Technology Press Ltd.

ABSTRACT

The Covid-19 virus with a very fast spread requires governments in every country to act quickly to prevent the spread of the coronavirus so that it does not spread quickly. The method that is mostly used is the contact tracing application, Indonesia applies this method by creating the PeduliLindungi mobile application which can track the position of people visiting a place by scanning a QR code. To ensure the successful implementation of the application, a user satisfaction evaluation is needed. This research was conducted by conducting a questionnaire survey to users of the PeduliLindungi application to determine the level of user satisfaction, the survey data was then processed using SmartPLS. The results of this study showed that all variables are positive. Two of them, usability and reliability have a significant effect on user satisfaction. It can be concluded that the user is satisfied with the PeduliLindungi application because the application has good usability and reliability. © 2022 IEEE.

ABSTRACT

The recurring outbreak of COVID-19 has witnessed community group purchasing return to the mainstay of national consumption. The paper conducted a questionnaire survey on consumer groups with experience in community group purchasing to explore the influencing factors of customer satisfaction in developing community group purchasing. The evaluation index system was determined based on the CCSI model, and the entropy weighting method was used to determine the index weights. Multidimensional regression analysis was used to verify the influencing factors of consumer satisfaction and their magnitude. The results show that expected satisfaction, perceived value, perceived quality, and platform image all have a positive influence on consumer satisfaction, and there is a meaningful relationship between consumer satisfaction and consumer loyalty. Multidimensional enhancement of consumer satisfaction can drive the sustainable development of community group purchasing. © 2022 ACM.

ABSTRACT

This study aims to grasp the situation of supports for dual-habitation by local governments. We conducted a questionnaire survey for local governments. As a result, many supports were about set up a consultation desk and utilization of subsidies. On the other hand, it was useful to set up a dedicated homepage, provide unoccupied house bank and places for employment and community exchange. In addition, we confirmed the growing interest due to the Covid-19 pandemic. It was found that support for dual-habitation requires not only support for the houses, but also the realization of new work styles and regional exchanges. © 2023 Architectural Institute of Japan. ABSTRACT

The pandemic context that devastated teaching in Portugal, placing students and teachers only connected by a screen, made emotions emerge in students, making the accompanying teachers more attentive. In this study, we present the results obtained from the general objective: to identify the emotions present in students in the emerging context of the COVID-19 pandemic. Data were collected from teachers of the 2nd and 3rd cycles of basic education (n = 377), through a questionnaire survey that contained an open question, asking teachers to write about the challenges encountered in managing students' emotions. The webQDA® software was used for the analysis and interpretation of qualitative data. The main results show that the identification of emotions by teachers was not, systematically, unanimous, and also differs according to the length of service. A school that is, for many, a place of well-being and good practices, since teachers play the role of "psychologist without training, just to listen to students”, was one of the conclusions. Thus, the monitoring carried out by teachers with more or less time of service, even at a distance, was relevant, considering that pedagogy was (re)invented. © 2023, The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd.

ABSTRACT

All the teaching and learning activities except laboratory-based practicals remained conducted virtually during the transition from the Covid-19 pandemic to the endemic phase. The problem-based assignment for Pharmaceutical Analysis was conducted virtually. This study aims to evaluate students' level of engagement and perception of virtual engagement to complete an online problem-based assignment on real situations using the cooperative Jigsaw model. Jamboard was used as an online communication tool to connect the students and facilitators. The content of the written discussion posted on the Jamboard and the questionnaire survey were analysed to establish the level of engagement. The student's perception of virtual engagement was based on a questionnaire survey using descriptive analysis. Analysis of the student's opinion posted on the Jamboard showed the presence of cognitive, social, and teaching components in the level of engagement during the virtual discussion. The information from the internet is borderless and the facilitators need to be knowledgeable to explain, guide, and stimulate higher-order thinking among the students. With careful course design, the Jigsaw cooperative activity on real problem-based questions could use to facilitate collaborative problem-solving skills among the students. © 2022, International Journal of Emerging Technologies in Learning. ABSTRACT

The authors conducted an online survey in Japan in March 2019 (N=2,684) to gather feedback from workers who commute to their offices and work with several people in a corporate environment. However, considering the COVID-19 pandemic changed our workstyle, a second survey (n=490) was conducted in December 2020 for workers whose offices remained mostly unchanged since the last survey to compare data from both surveys for the same respondents and investigate the changes in the value of office spaces. The result suggested that the survey respondents were influenced by the changes in workstyles and attitudes in the telework experience. © 2022 Architectural Institute of Japan. All rights reserved.

ABSTRACT

The COVID-19 pandemic covers the whole world. It has affected global social and economic development, including the transport sector. To prevent the spread of COVID-19, individual states have introduced uncompromising and radical measures, including the closure of offices, schools, and businesses, which is also part of the traffic situation. Anti-pandemic measures in Slovakia resulted in a reduction in the mobility of the population in VHOD. In this paper, we will focus on changes in passenger mobility in the most frequently used public transport as well as on changing the preferences of passengers in public transport. The analysis will be carried out in the form of a questionnaire survey, and we will transform the results of the survey into proposals and recommendations for public transport companies. The aim of public passenger transport is to provide information with a quality transport service. Only the satisfied will use passenger public transport in large quantities. © 2022 Kaunas University of Technology. All rights reserved.

ABSTRACT

The coronavirus pandemic that escalated in 2020 brought changes in all areas of life, putting all sectors of the economy, including households and businesses, on a new footing. Changed working conditions and closures have put many businesses in a difficult situation. Many businesses managed to survive the restrictions at considerable cost, but there were also some entities that did not survive the difficult months following the outbreak of the coronavirus epidemic. New ways of working and changed circumstances have rewritten previous management and practical principles and experience. The aim of this paper is to describe the impact of the coronavirus epidemic and the areas most affected by the subsequent crisis, based on the results of a questionnaire survey of 161 enterprises in Hungary. The aim of the study is to identify the areas which are the most vulnerable in the life of SMEs and which should be given the most attention in the next possible future crises. © 2022 IEEE.

ABSTRACT

As the COVID-19 pandemic persists, companies are rapidly shifting to non-face-to-face work by expanding telecommuting and introducing platforms tailored to the non-face-to-face work environments. Therefore, this study was intended to verify the effects of non-face-to-face collaboration system quality on work efficiency and business performance. To that end, a questionnaire survey was conducted with project team members who had work experience using a non-face-to-face collaboration system, and empirical analysis was conducted through statistical analysis of the collected data. The results of the study indicated that the quality of non-face-to-face collaboration systems had positive effects on work efficiency and business performance. In addition, it was shown that work efficiency positively affects business performance. Consequently, it was identified that non-face-to-face collaboration systems play an important role in improving work efficiency and ultimately improving business performance. The foregoing suggests that in the trend of emphasizing efficient utilization of non-face-to-face collaboration systems increasing worldwide, the construction of a non-face-to-face collaboration system that reflected work efficiency first can enhance the competitiveness of firms and improve management. © 2022 IEEE.
